All in all, South Park got some things right and a lot of things wrong.  But did anyone expect any different?  After all, it’s a cartoon and it’s a comedy.  Its purpose is to entertain, not to share truth.

With that in mind, I would hope that any reasonable purpose would take the South Park Mormon episode with a big grain of salt.  I’ve touched on some of the major issues (right and wrong) on this website, but there are a thousand other details about the episode that I didn’t write about.  Just because I didn’t mention it here does not mean that South Park got it right!

Since you spent ~20 minutes watching the South Park episode and at least a few minutes here learning what they got right and wrong, why not spend ~20 minutes and see the story from the Mormon perspective.  These two videos below share the story of Joseph Smith–from the first vision to the publishing of the Book of Mormon to the organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 

Though you may not laugh as much as you did during the South Park version, you may find something much more important by watching these videos — the truth.   Enjoy.
